- Raised in Washington, D.C. and having the opportunity to complete her college internships in the 80’s for Senator Howard Metzenbaum and then Congressman Harry Reid simultaneously, Jonae attributes many of her skills and experience based on that opportunity. In addition, her networking skills are not only astonishing but powerful.
Jonae’s board based experience has been seasoned by her corporate positions and/or client accounts such as The Department of the Interior (Bureau of Mines), TV Guide, Lee Bailey Communications, Gerry Foster Marketing and Burson-Marsteller (an International Public Relations Firm). At Burson-Marsteller she worked on accounts such as Tylenol, Vons, Epson America, and the 1987 reunion tour of the Rat Pack, to name a few.
In addition, some of her non-profit positions and/or client accounts have included working for The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, The American Heart Association, The Crohns and Colitis Foundation, The Bishop Desmond Tutu Southern African Refugees Scholarship Fund, NAACP Image Awards and Theatre Awards, and City of Hope.
Additionally, she served as the Los Angeles Local Associate Director for FraserNet, Inc. business networking events. These events have had record numbers of attendees. George Fraser, president of FraserNet, is the author of the best selling book, Success Runs In Our Race: The Complete Guide to Effective Networking in the Black Community.
A graduate of Howard University with a B.A. degree in Public Relations, Ms. Watts is also the former president of the Howard University Alumni Club of Southern California. As well, Jonae was an instructor through the UCLA Extension program on their newly designed course “Continuing Discussions on Entrepreneurship.” Most notable, she was formally Miss Black America, Washington, D.C. and first-runner up for the Miss Teen New Jersey.
She also has received the Georgetown University Academic Achievement Award and the Outstanding Young Women in America Award.
Currently, Jonae is a Growth Group Leader through the Champions in Training Program at Faithful Central Bible Church located in Inglewood, CA. She is also writing her first book which is an inspiritual book for Christian entrepreneurs.
